At the 2025 ASGCT meeting, researchers from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania presented the development and administration of a personalized CRISPR therapy – all accomplished within six months – for KJ Muldoon, an infant diagnosed with CPS1 deficiency. This rapid achievement was made possible through key collaborations with Aldevron and Integrated DNA Technologies, along with Acuitas Therapeutics, which provided the lipid nanoparticle delivery system and helped manufacture the drug product, enabling three escalating doses. In partnership with HDMZ, Acuitas helped elevate awareness of this case, highlighting the future potential of personalized gene editing therapies. A truly inspiring story.
